Subject: Maritime advisory No. 2 on new coronavirus - reg.
1. The Directorate has issued maritime advisory on new coronavirus vide M.S Notice 02
of 2020 on 28.01.2020 (F. No. 7-NT(72)/2014). The said advisory recommended all Indian
seafarers to comply with World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendation and Ministry
of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) advisory. Also, all Indian ships were advised to
exercise due caution while calling at ports of the regions where such infection is reported.
2. There have been reports in the media that few seafarers on board a ship that sailed out
of port from an infected region have developed clinical signs and flu like symptoms with
fever and having difficulty in breathing.
3. Considering that the coronavirus could also affect other seafarers, all Indian seafarers
and all Indian ships while calling at ports of the regions where such coronavirus infection is
reported are in addition to the recommendations mentioned in M.S Notice 02 of 2020 are also
required to comply with the following and look for daily updates:
