A special Military Band Performance will be organised at the historic Shaniwar Wada, Pune, on
26 January 2026, marking an evening of patriotism set in the heart of the city’s heritage. The
iconic fort will resonate with pride as the Armoured Corps Centre & School Military Band,
together with the Pipe Band and Jazz Band of the Bombay Engineer Group and Centre (BEG
Centre), presents a ceremonial performance to commemorate 150 years of “Vande Mataram”.
The event will be conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Southern Command by BEG Centre
(Khadki), and will be open to the public.
The event will pay tribute to “Vande Mataram”—a song that inspired India’s freedom struggle
and continues to symbolise unity and national identity—while rekindling the spirit of national
awakening it once ignited. Set against the iconic landmark of Shaniwar Wada, the evening will
celebrate the enduring spirit of the Republic through stirring military melodies and time-
honoured martial music. The massed bands, known for precision, discipline and musical
excellence, will present a repertoire blending patriotic compositions with ceremonial military
tunes, creating a visually and emotionally uplifting experience for citizens and visitors alike.The Armoured Corps Centre & School Military Band, raised on 10 April 1948, has a distinguished
record of performances at major national ceremonial occasions including Republic Day, Army
Day, Rashtrapati Bhavan duties, Amar Jawan Jyoti, and colour/guidon presentations. The band
has also represented India internationally in London (1990), Bhutan (2003), Sweden (2006) and
Edinburgh (2008), and has several “firsts” to its credit—upholding a legacy of excellence and
honour. Supported by the Pipe Band and Jazz Band of BEG Centre, the evening will feature
patriotic tunes and national melodies, including stirring renditions inspired by “Vande Mataram”,
offering a resonant homage to India’s spirit and sacrifice.
The programme is expected to draw large public participation and provide a memorable start to
the Republic Day celebrations in Pune, while underscoring the Indian Army’s deep connect with
