Posted On: 26 OCT 2026 5:07PM by PIB Delhi The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) and its organisations are actively implementing Special Campaign 6, making significant progress towards achieving the identified targets. The campaign focuses on key areas, including the disposal of e-waste and scrap, effective records management, space optimisation and expeditious grievance redressal, in alignment with the Government of Indiaโs vision of Swachhata, digital transformation and good governance.
As part of the ongoing campaign, 173 cleanliness Campaigns have been conducted, 33,199 physical and e-files have been reviewed out of which 9,808 files have been closed/weeded out. Revenue worth Rs. 9.79 crores has been generated from scrap/ e-waste disposal and 88,171 sq. ft. of space has been freed, leading to improvement in office space management and environment friendly workspace and surroundings.
Among the notable best practices undertaken during Special Campaign 6 is the transformation of Kumartuli Ghat by Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), in collaboration with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ). The initiative aims to transform the ghat, which had fallen into a dilapidated condition due to prolonged neglect, into an inclusive, clean and sustainable public space, demonstrating the campaignโs emphasis on the rejuvenation of public spaces and community welfare.Senior officers of the Ministry have actively participated in Swachhata-related activities, setting an example through their direct involvement in cleanliness drives, beautification of office premises and improvement of surrounding areas. The participation of officers and staff has reinforced the importance of cleanliness, workplace discipline and collective responsibility in institutionalizing Swachhata across the Ministry and its organisations.*** MI/Indu (Release ID: 2328543)Visitor Counter : 157
