Read : From the Registrar General, High Court of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, ROC. No.305/SO-1/2007, dated: 14-12-2011. **** ORDER : The Registrar General, High Court of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad, in the letter read above, has stated that, in order to bring to the notice of the accused about the availability of “Legal Services”, the High Court has decided to amend the Form No.1 of the Schedule II of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 along with “Plea Bargaining” for the convenience of the accused person regarding availability of “Plea Bargaining” in the light of the adding of Chapter XXIA to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, vide Act 2/2006. 2. After careful examination of the matter, the Government have decided to insert the following amendment to Form No.1 (summons to an accused person) of the Second Schedule to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 regarding availability of “Plea Bargaining” in the light of the adding of Chapter XXIA to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 vide Act 2/2006. 3. Accordingly the following Notification will be published in an Extraordinary issue of the Andhra Pradesh Gazette in Telugu and Urdu also. NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 227 of the Constitution of India read with section 476 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh with the previous approval of the Governor hereby makes an amendment to Form No.1 of the Second Schedule of the Code of the Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act II of 1974). AMENDMENT In Form No.1 of the Second Schedule to the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the following shall be added, namely :- “You are hereby informed the following :-- 1. The Services of an advocate from the District Legal Services Authority are available, as per the eligibility criteria applicable to litigants. In case you desire to avail the services of an advocate from the District Legal Services Authority, you may contact to the Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Nyaya Seva Sadan, District Court Buildings ________ / Chairman, Mandal Legal Services Committee, Court Buildings, _____________, Legal Aid is given free of charge, subject to eligibility. (P.T.O.): 2 : 2. You can also avail the opportunity of “plea bargaining” as per provisions contained in Chapter XXI-A of the Cr. P.C.
