Ministry of Minority Affairs National Commission for Minorities Celebrates Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Vice Chairperson S. Munawari Begum highlights Teachings of Prophet Mohammad and the Values of Peace, Compassion and Nation-Building Posted On: 25 AUG 2026 6:56PM by PIB Delhi The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) celebrated Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi at its office in New Delhi, bringing together members of the Muslim community and officials of the Commission to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad and reflect upon his life, teachings and enduring message of peace, compassion and social responsibility. Welcoming members of the Muslim community to the programme, Joint Secretary, NCM, Dr. Atya Nand spoke about the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad and highlighted the positive transformation he brought to society. He emphasized the relevance of his teachings in promoting compassion, mutual respect, harmony and responsible conduct in society. Secretary, NCM, Shri Suchindra Misra, reiterated the role of the National Commission for Minorities in ensuring that constitutional and statutory safeguards for minorities are effectively implemented. He emphasized the importance of the social harmony and brotherhood in extending the development of thecountry. In her remarks, Vice Chairperson Smt. S. Munawari Begum spoke about the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad and the enduring lessons they offer to society. She underlined the importance of values including of saving girl child. She said that the life of Prophet Mohammad and the lessons drawn from his teachings encourage members of the community to contribute positively to nation-building and discharge their responsibilities as citizens. She also reaffirmed the National Commission for Minorities' commitment to promoting dialogue, inclusivity and equal participation of minority communities in the nation's development. On the occasion, representatives of the Muslim community, elaborated on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad. They highlighted the importance of his message of peace, equality, compassion and service to humanity and its continued relevance in contemporary society including of women empowerment schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.
