Pune: 14 September 2026 The National Statistics Office (NSO), Field Operations Division (FOD), Regional Office, Pune, under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation

(MoSPI), is actively conducting a wide spectrum of socio-economic, industrial, and price-related surveys across the region. These nationwide surveys are pivotal in shaping national economic policies, calculating key indicators like GDP and inflation, evaluating employment trends, and assessing rural and urban socio-economic conditions.

Below is an overview of the key ongoing survey operations undertaken by NSO RO

Pune:

1. Continuous & Ongoing Socio-Economic Surveys Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) [2026]

Objective: Launched to provide key employment and unemployment indicators— such as Worker Population Ratio (WPR), Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR), and Unemployment Rate (UR).

Frequency of Indicators: Quarterly for urban areas under Current Weekly Status

(CWS), and annually for both rural and urban areas under Usual Status ps+ss and CWS.

Objective: Captures operational and economic metrics of unincorporated non- agricultural enterprises across manufacturing, trade, and non-construction service sectors to supplement corporate sector data.

2. Ongoing Surveys under NSS 81st Round (July 2026 – June 2027) The 81st Round of the National Sample Survey (NSS) commenced from 1st July 2026 and will encompass the following crucial modules:

Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) of Agricultural Households & All India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS): Integrated survey covering rural landholdings, livestock ownership, household income, productive assets, indebtedness, farming practices, and access to agricultural technology.

Migration Particulars Survey (MPS): Comprehensive study focusing on patterns, reasons, and duration of migration, usual activity status, economic remittances, short-term seasonal mobility, and return migration dynamics.

3. Price Statistics & Economic Indices (Continuous Field Operations) Consumer Price Index (CPI - Rural/Urban/Combined): Measures retail price changes of consumer goods and services (Base Year: 2022–23=100). Market surveys for CPI (Urban) and CPI (Rural) are actively being conducted by the field office.

CPI for Agricultural and Rural Labourers (CPI-AL/RL): Monthly price data and daily wage rates across 12 major agricultural and 13 non-agricultural occupations are collected to assist the Labour Bureau (MoLE) in compiling CPI (AL/RL).

4. Industrial & Service Sector Enterprises Surveys Annual Survey of Incorporated Service Sector Enterprises (ASISSE) 2026:

Designed to establish a database on corporate service sector units (FY 2024–25 reference period), utilizing GSTN database metrics (Principal and Additional Places of Business) to estimate Gross Value Added (GVA), capital formation, and employment. Notices under Collection of Statistics Act were issued to the enterprises under coverage of this survey.

5. Specialized & Agricultural Initiatives Rapid Survey of Functional Co-operatives (RSFC) 2026: Conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Cooperation (MoC) over a 6-month period (begun April 2026) to assess the economic contribution, GVA/GVO, and employment generation of functional cooperatives across 12 key sectors.

Urban Frame Survey (UFS) [Phase 2022–27]: Ongoing digital mapping using mobile, web-portal, and QGIS platforms (developed in collaboration with NRSC, Hyderabad) to create updated sampling frames for urban socio-economic surveys.

Sangli Jat, Atpadi Kolhapur Chandgad Pune Dehu gaothan Public Cooperation Appeal The National Statistics Office, Regional office Pune appeals to the General public, Commercial establishments, Factory managers, Agricultural households, Cooperative societies including Housing societies and local institutions toextend full cooperation to visiting field officials. Authentic data provided during these interactions forms the bedrock of national development plans and policy formulation.
