The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has invited applications from eligible schools,
colleges and educational institutions to function as examination centres for the upcoming Public
(Theory) Examinations for Secondary and Senior Secondary courses scheduled to commence
from the first week of October 2026.
NIOS conducts its Public Examinations twice every year, during April–May and October–
November, on dates notified by its Headquarters. For the October 2026 examinations,
examination centres will be established in PM SHRI Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar
Navodaya Vidyalayas, Government and Government aided schools, private schools, colleges and
institutions affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, State Boards and Universities, subject to fulfillment of
the prescribed norms.
Principals and Heads of eligible institutions are requested to submit their applications online
through the NIOS Examination Centre Registration Portal at https://exams.nios.ac.in. The
portal will remain open for registration from 23 June 2026 to 23 July 2026. Detailed eligibility
criteria, examination centre norms and prescribed formats for the Centre Acceptance Form and
Bank Undertaking are available on the portal.
Institutions applying for the first time are required to upload the duly completed Centre
Acceptance Form and Bank Undertaking online and submit the original documents, complete in
all respects, to the NIOS Regional Centre, Pune through Speed Post without delay.
Institutions that have already been registered with NIOS in previous examination cycles need
only submit their consent for the October 2026 examination and update their institutional
details, if required.
NIOS urges all eligible institutions to complete the registration process within the stipulated
timeline to facilitate smooth conduct of the October 2026 Public Examinations.
