Chapter XI- 1&XI-2 of SOLAS specifies special measures to enhance maritime safety and security respectively for all ships and port facilities. 2. In order to preventsecurity threat and to protect and monitor the waterfront area of the port facility, some ports use RADAR equipment for effective monitoring. 3. To obtain necessary license from WPC, Ports have been seeking "No Objection" certificate from this Directorate for installation of RADAR equipment within the port facility. 4. Installation of RADAR equipment for monitoring of waterfront area of the port is useful in effective monitoring and enhances security and safety aspects of ports. In view of the same, it is clarified that this Directorate has "No Objection" for ports installing RADAR installation within their Port Facility. Ports may accordingly use copy of this MSN while applying to WPC for license. 5. On installation of RADAR within the port facility, the details of same needs to be included in the Port Facility Security Plan (PFSP) of the port as well as intimated to this Directorate for record. 6.
