Government of India Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology ***** NOTICE Subject: Extension of time for Inviting feedback/comments of stakeholders on the Draft amendments to Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 in relation to strengthening intermediary compliance with clarifications, advisories and directions issued by the Ministry, including additional amendments in Rule 3(3)(a)(ii) and digital media oversight - reg. Dated: 21st April, 2026 The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had published the draft amendments to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 on its website on 30th March, 2026 for public consultation. Subsequently, the timeline for submission of feedback/comments was extended till 29th April, 2026. 2. In addition to the draft amendments already placed in the public domain, further changes have been proposed in Rule 3(3)(a)(ii), which requires continuous and clearly visible display of label for synthetically generated information throughout the duration of the content in visual display. 3. In order to provide stakeholders an opportunity to examine and submit feedback on the aforesaid additional changes along with the earlier draft amendments, it has been decided to place these additional amendments also in the public domain for consultation. 4.
