NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 17th September, 2026 S.O. 5101(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3 and 17A of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), read with rules 6A and 6D of the Census Rules, 1990, the Central Government hereby makes the following amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Home Affairs, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii), vide number S.O. 99(E), dated the 7th January, 2026, namely:- In the said notification, after the words “Houselisting operations of thirty days” the following proviso shall be inserted, namely: - “Provided that in respect of the Charaideo and Sivasagar districts of the State of Assam, the period of houselisting operations of the Census of India 2027 shall be extended upto 31st October, 2026.” [F.
