SHRI DUSHYANT SINGH: Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has any plan for providing 5G network connectivity through installation of communication towers in the districts located along MP-Rajasthan border, particularly the Jhalawar-Baran region and if so, the details thereof along with the break-down of the number of 5G communication towers installed so far, district-wise; (b) whether the Government has conducted any scientific evaluation of the safety profile of 5G communication towers, particularly with regard to any potential link between exposure to electromagnetic fields and the occurrence of ailments such as cancer and if so, the details thereof; and (c) whether the Government has issued any guidelines specifying exposure limits, or safety measures to be followed by the telecom operators to ensure the safety of the general public and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMUNICATIONS AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT (DR. PEMMASANI CHANDRA SEKHAR) (a) As on 31.10.2025, 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) are available in all the districts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan State including the districts located along MP-Rajasthan border. Further, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) have installed 412 and 303 number of 5G BTSs in Jhalawar and Baran districts respectively. (b) & (c) World Health Organization (WHO) has observed that : “All reviews conducted so far have indicated that exposures below the limits recommended in the International Commission on Non-Ionising Radiation Protection(ICNIRP) 1998 EMF guidelines, covering the full frequency range from 0-300 GHz, do not produce any known adverse health effect.” Further, Government has issued guidelines specifying exposure limits to be followed by the Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) to ensure the safety of the general public. The details are placed at Annexure-I.
