5G NETWORK IN DARBHANGA, BIHAR

Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:
(a) the details and number of 4G towers installed and commissioned so far under BSNL's
indigenous 4G network in Bihar and particularly in Darbhanga;
(b) the details and number of Gram Panchayats in Darbhanga district connected through optical
fibre network under the BharatNet scheme;
(c) whether any time-bound action plan is proposed to provide high-speed internet facilities in
all Panchayats and rural areas of Darbhanga districts and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether any proposal to install additional 4G towers is under consideration of the
Government to strengthen BSNL network in Darbhanga district; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) BSNL has installed total 2,958 indigenous 4G sites and commissioned 2,935 4G sites in
Bihar including 115 4G sites in Darbhanga District.
(b) & (c) In Darbhanga district, 324 Gram Panchayats (GPs) had been connected in Phase-I &
Phase-II under BharatNet. Further, the Government has approved the Amended BharatNet Program
(ABP) for upgradation of the existing network created under Phase-I and Phase-II of BharatNet and
to create incremental network for new GPs, and to connect the non-GP villages on demand basis,
operation and maintenance and provision of fibre internet connections.
