Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether the access to AYUSH services has improved after the launch of National
AYUSH Mission (NAM) by the Government;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of AYUSH beneficiaries during the last
three years, State/UT-wise;
(c) whether the Government through NAM scheme has made any extra effort to popularise
the benefits of AYUSH system of medicine in rural areas where availability of other
healthcare facilities is relatively inferior than urban areas;
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(e) whether the Government is taking any other steps to make AYUSH system of medicine
more accessible and affordable in rural areas particularly in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh
including Mau and Ballia districts; and
(f) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (b) Under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM) State/UT
Governments have been supported under different activities for strengthening of Ayush
infrastructure implementation of different Ayush Public Health Programmes throughout the
country. As per the proposals received from State/UT Governments total grant in aid of Rs.
5670.82 crores from 2014-15 to 2024-25 has been released for implementation of different
activities of SAAP for providing better access to Ayush services in the country. The major
activities supported/achievements made under NAM from 2014-15 to 2024-25 is enclosed at
Annexure I. Further the data of beneficiaries visited to different Ayush facilities to avail
Ayush health care services are being maintained by the respective State/UT Governments.
However, State /UT wise status of beneficiaries visited at Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush)
during last three years as reported by the State/UTs is furnished at Annexure II.
(c) to (d) Ministry of Ayush is supporting the efforts of State/UT Governments for overall
development & promotion of Ayush system in the country by providing financial assistance
to them for different activities proposed through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) as perthe provisions of NAM guideline. The Mission inter-alia makes provision for following
activities:
(i) Operationalization of Ayush Health & Wellness Centres (AHWCs), now renamed as
Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush), by upgrading existing Ayush dispensaries and Sub health
Centres.
(ii) Co-location of Ayush facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health
Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals (DHs)
(iii) Upgradation of existing standalone Government Ayush Hospitals
(iv) Upgradation of existing Government/Panchayat/Government aided Ayush
Dispensaries/ Construction of building for existing Ayush Dispensary (Rented/dilapidated
accommodation) /Construction of building to establish new Ayush Dispensary
(v) Setting up of 10/30/50 bedded integrated Ayush Hospitals
(vi) Supply of essential drugs to Government Ayush Hospitals, Government Dispensaries
and Government/Government aided Teaching Institutional Ayush Hospitals.
(vii) Ayush Public Health Programs.
(viii) Establishment of new Ayush colleges in the States where availability of Ayush
teaching institutions is inadequate in Government Sector.
(ix) Infrastructural development of Ayush Under-Graduate Institutions and Ayush Post.
Further Ministry of Ayush also implements a Central Sector Scheme for Promotion of
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) in Ayush to create awareness regarding
Ayush Systems of Medicine. This scheme aims to reach out to all sections of the population
across the country and under this Scheme, Ministry organizes National/State level Arogya
Fairs, Yoga Fests/Utsavs, Ayurveda Parvs, Celebrate Important Days of Ayush Systems
including Ayurveda day, Participate in Health Fairs/ Melas & Exhibitions, provide financial
assistance for organizing seminars, workshops, conferences and conduct multimedia
campaigns etc.
(e) & (f) Public Health being a State Subject, the primary responsibility to make Ayush
system of medicine more accessible and affordable in rural areas particularly in the eastern
part of Uttar Pradesh including Mau and Ballia districts lies with the respective State/UT
Government, however as per the proposals received from the State Government of Uttar
Pradesh under CSS (NAM) 33 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush), have been approved in
Mau & Ballia.Annexure-I
The major activities supported/achievements made under NAM from 2014-15 to 2024-
25
(i) 203 units supported for setting up of Integrated Ayush Hospitals.
(ii) 518 Ayush Hospitals and 6234 Ayush Dispensaries have been supported for Up gradation
of infrastructure and other facilities.
(iii) 2387 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 746 Community Health Centres (CHCs) and 319
District Hospitals (DHs) have been supported under co-location for recurring assistance of
medicines and contingency on an average in each year.
(iv) 1157 Ayush Hospitals and 12677 Ayush Dispensaries have been supported for supply of
essential Ayush medicines on an average in each year.
(v) 21 units supported for establishment of New Ayush Educational Institutions.
(vi) 78 Under-Graduate and 46 Post-Graduate AYUSH Educational Institutes have been
supported for Upgradation of infrastructure, Library and other things.
(vii) 383 units supported for establishment of New Ayush Dispensaries.
(viii) 1429 Ayush Grams have been supported.
(ix) 12500 Ayush Health & Wellness Centres now renamed as Ayushman Arogya Mandir
(Ayush) have been supported.Annexure II
