DARSHANA SINGH: Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a) the key achievements made by India in the field of safe, ethical and human-centric Artificial Intelligence (AI) through the India AI Impact Summit; (b) the number of countries/international organizations that participated and endorsed the New Delhi declaration on AI; (c) the boost to innovation in the country through investments announced, global partnerships and Startup support; and (d) Government's upcoming action plan and roadmap to make India a global AI hub? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (d) : In line with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision, the Government is democratising the development and usage of technology. The focus is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for solving real-world problems and ultimately improving lives across various sectors. India - AI Impact Summit 2026 India hosted the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 from 16–21 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. For the first time, the global AI summit series took place in the Global South. The shift signals a broader move toward a more inclusive global AI dialogue. The Summit concluded as a historic global convergence, firmly establishing India as a global hub for artificial intelligence innovation, governance, partnership, and inclusive growth. The five-day mega-event, the largest of its kind hosted by any developing nation, brought together leaders from governments, industry, academia, civil society, and startups under the theme “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness of all). The Summit witnessed participation from more than 100 countries, including 22 Heads of State or Government, and around 10 international organisations. Participating countries represented regions across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas and Oceania.International organisations included UN agencies and multilateral development banks. Further, the India AI Impact Expo provided an opportunity for 908 organisations to showcase the cutting edge of AI Innovation. The Summit concluded with the AI Impact Summit Declaration, endorsed by 92 countries and international organisations, affirming collective commitment to trusted, inclusive, democratic, and human-centric AI norms. During the Summit, discussions were revolved around seven thematic “Chakras”: Human Capital, Inclusion, Safe & Trusted AI, Resilience, Innovation and Efficiency, Democratizing AI Resources, and AI for Economic Development and Social Good. The Safe & Trusted AI Working Group released a Guidance Note on AI Governance, which serves as a flexible and non-prescriptive reference framework to assist governments in designing or strengthening national AI governance systems while balancing innovation, safety, and public interest. The Working Group also introduced a framework for a globally accessible Trusted AI Commons, a collaborative platform providing open tools for AI safety, testing, and evaluation, particularly benefiting developing economies through capacity-building, knowledge sharing, and technical assistance. Also, the New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments signed by 13 leading model providers. AI Responsibility Campaign: Global Record India successfully achieved a Guinness World Record for the “Most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours,” with over 2.5 lakh validated pledges. The India AI Impact Summit catalysed several tangible outcomes including major investment announcements, strengthened international partnerships, and enhanced engagement across the global AI ecosystem. The Summit witnessed announcements of investment commitments across the AI value chain, with expected investments exceeding USD 250 billion across infrastructure, foundation models, hardware, and applications. Global venture capital firms pledged multi-billion-dollar investments to support AI innovation, while a leading technology company announced significant investments in connectivity, an AI hub in India, and large-scale training initiatives reaching tens of millions of public servants and students. The Government’s roadmap to position India as a global AI hub is being implemented through the IndiaAI Mission. The Mission focuses on expanding access to high-performance AI computing and datasets, fostering development of indigenous foundation models, and supporting AI startups and innovation ecosystems.Further, the IndiaAI Mission emphasises skilling initiatives to prepare the workforce for the AI economy, supporting research and development of responsible and trusted AI tools and frameworks, and facilitating global collaborations to ensure that India emerges as a leader in safe, ethical and human-centric AI. *******
