Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Bundelkhand region is one of the poorest regions
of the country;
(b) the details of schemes implemented to eradicate poverty in
Bundelkhand region along with the actual impact thereof
during the last five years;
(c) whether the Government has proposed/implemented any
special long term action plan to lift Bundelkhand region out of
poverty regions; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) is implementing a
number of welfare schemes/programmes such as Mahatma Gandhi
National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS),
Pradhan MantriAwaasYojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Pradhan Mantri
Gram SadakYojana (PMGSY), DeendayalAntyodayaYojana - National
Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM),
DeenDayalUpadhyayaGrameenKaushalyaYojana (DDUGKY), Rural
Self Employment Training Institutes(RSETIs) and National Social
Assistance Programme(NSAP) for overall development of rural areas
of the country including Bundelkhand region. These
schemes/programmes aim to alleviate poverty and to bring about
overall improvement in the quality of life of the people in rural areas
of the country by strengthening livelihood opportunities, providing
minimum guaranteed employment, promoting self-employment,
skilling of youths in various useful trades and entrepreneurship

assistance.
The above-mentioned schemes/programmes are implemented
through States/Union Territories. The impact of these
schemes/programmes in the Bundelkhand region (covering the
districts of Chitrakoot, Banda, Jhansi, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba,
Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh, as well as Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Damoh,
Sagar, Datia and Panna in Madhya Pradesh), wherever maintained,
is as under:-
i. Under MGNREGA, 27.89 crorepersondays have been generated
during the last five years.
ii. Under PMAY-G, a total of 5,19,819 houses have been
constructed during the last five years.
iii. Under PMGSY, since the inception of the scheme upto
24.07.2025, a total of 15,428 km of road length has been
sanctioned, out of which 14,963 km has been completed .
iv. Under DAY-NRLM, 2,88,627 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been
promoted and 33,39,728 Households have been mobilised from
the financial year 2021-22 till 31st March, 2025.
v. Under DDU-GKY, 15,327 candidates have been trained and
10,818 have been placed during the last five years.
vi. Under RSETI, 42,913 candidates have been trained and 31,331
have been settled during the last five years.
(c) & (d): This Ministry does not have any action plan specifically
for Bundelkhand region. However, as informed by NITI Aayog, in
2009, a special package for the Bundelkhand region was approved
at a cost of Rs.7266 crore, comprising Rs.3506 crore for Uttar
Pradesh and Rs.3760 crore for Madhya Pradesh for a period of 3
years, starting from 2009-10. The Government further approved an
Additional Central Assistance of Rs. 200 crores (Rs 100 crore each
for State Governments of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh) to
provide drinking water in Bundelkhand region on May 19, 2011.
Under this package various interventions like Watershed
Development, Construction of Surface Irrigation Project,
Construction of Dug well and its energization, Construction of Stop
Dams, Afforestation, Storage and Market yards, Distribution of
Goats and Bulls, Fodder Storage, Dairy Development, Drinking Water
Supply, Crops and Horticulture Development and Marketing etc.
were adopted in all 7 districts of Uttar Pradesh and 6 Districts of
Madhya Pradesh of Bundelkhand Region.
