Shri Saumitra Khan: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) the details of the schemes in place for the promotion of Sanskrit across the country; (b) the objectives of the Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya Scheme; (c) the number of universities/institutions receiving financial assistance along with the quantum of assistance being provided under the Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya Scheme, State-wise particularly in West Bengal; (d) the number of proposals approved by the Government since the launch of the scheme along with the number of proposals pending before the Government for assistance under the said scheme; and (e) whether the Government has fixed any timeline to accord approval for the same and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (DR. SUKANTA MAJUMDAR) (a): Central Sanskrit University, Delhi has been entrusted with implementation of Central Schemes for Promotion of Sanskrit education. Under these schemes, financial assistance is provided to individuals/scholars/institutions/organizations engaged in propagation and development of Sanskrit throughout the country. Currently, under Scheme for Sanskrit promotion, the following 11 Central Schemes of Govt. of India are being implemented through the Central Sanskrit University for overall promotion and development of Sanskrit language & education in the country: i. Financial Assistance to the institutions recognized as Adarsh Sanskrit Mahavidyalayas (ASMs)/Adarsh Sanskrit Shodha Sansthans (ASSSs) – Aided Sanskrit Colleges. ii. Financial Assistance for Sanskrit Teaching–for engagement of Sanskrit & Modern Subject Teachers for Traditional Sanskrit Pathshalas/Mahavidyalayas/Government Schools, Chatuspathi and Residential Scholarships. iii. Pali-Prakrit Scheme for promotion of Pali and Prakrit Languages. iv. Financial Assistance for Programmes/Activities for Promotion of Sanskrit. v. Financial Assistance for Publication/Re-print of rare books and Bulk Purchase of Books.vi. Financial Assistance to Registered Academic Organisations to conduct “Vocational Training Courses” to the students of Traditional Sanskrit Pathshalas/Institutions. vii.
