ALLOCATION AND DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS FOR R&D PROJECTS UNDER NTTM

Will the Minister of TEXTILES be pleased to state:
(a) the total amount of funds disbursed under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) up to
December, 2025;
(b) the number of research and development projects approved up to December, 2025 relating to special
fibres and their applications;
(c) the total amount of funds allocated for the aforesaid approved projects; and
(d) whether start-ups have been approved under the Mission, if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER

(a): With a view to boost the technical textiles sector in the country, the National Technical Textiles
Mission (NTTM) was launched in the year 2020 with a total outlay of Rs. 1,480 crore. Under the Mission, an
amount of Rs. 517.96 crore has been released up to December, 2025.
(b) & (c): A total of 168 research projects have been approved under NTTM up to December 2025, of
which 33 projects at a cost of Rs 150.80 crore have been approved in the field of specialty fibres and their
applications.
(d): Under NTTM, a dedicated intervention titled “Grant for Research and Entrepreneurship across
Aspiring Innovators in Technical Textiles (GREAT)” has been implemented with an objective to support
start-up ecosystem of Technical Textiles in the country by assisting young innovators, scientists/technologists,
and start-up ventures in the field of Technical Textiles to translate their ideas into commercial
technologies/products. Under the GREAT guidelines, a maximum support of Rs. 50 lakh is provided to each
approved start-up. A total of 24 Start-ups have been approved under NTTM at a cost of Rs. 12.16 crore.
