Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government worked out a proposal entailing an allocation of Rs 1.25 lakh crore for the India
Semiconductor Mission 2.0 as the country looks to advance global chip-making ambitions and cement its position
as a semiconductor destination for the world;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the progress made, goals set and achieved in Telangana;
(c) whether India’s semiconductor push is likely to create countless jobs and Government opened semiconductor
facilities recently such clusters is likely to bring about economic transformation urges youth to tap new
opportunities in the emerging Artificial Intelligence era;
(d) if so, the details thereof, State-wise particularly for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh;
(e) the details of jobs given and action plan worked for Viksit Bharat-2047 along with the funds sanctioned and
spent therefor; and
(f) the details of DPRs and other proposals submitted by State Government of Telangana to Central Government
and the action taken on semiconductor issues and its development in the said States?

(a) to (e): In order to sustain the momentum created by the projects approved so far, the Cabinet approved
Semicon2.0 on 15.07.2026 with an outlay of ₹1.275 lakh crore. This initiative aims to establish a self-reliant,
globally competitive semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem covering following six pillars:
Pillars Segment
1 Design of Chips Strategic & commercial chips
2 Machines and materials Equipment, chemicals, gases, materials
3 Setting up more Fabs Silicon, display, compound etc.
4 Further strengthening the ATMP/OSAT industry Advanced & legacy packaging
5 Research & Development Advanced technologies
6 Talent Development Design & manufacturing talent
Semicon India Programme is a pan-India programme. Applicants choose the project location depending on
various parameters such as uninterrupted power supply, availability and quality of water, land availability,
proximity of airport, incentives offered under State government policies and other measures relating to ease of
doing business provided by the State Governments.
The semiconductor industry is a foundational industry. All sectors of the economy such as industrial, consumer,
defence, telecommunication and automotive etc depend on semiconductors. This sector offers transformative
capabilities by driving technological innovation, economic growth, and strategic self-reliance. Owing to thefoundational nature of this industry, it has the potential to generate large scale highly skilled direct and indirect
employment.
(f): Under Semicon India Programme, the proposals and its Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are submitted by the
applicant companies. The applicant companies make the decision for the location of the Project.
