Parliament Question: Allocation of fund to J&K under NAM

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1125 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10.02.2026 Allocation of fund to J&K under NAM 1125 Shri Sat Paul Sharma: Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state: (a) the details of amount allocated to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the last two years and the expenditure incurred therein under National Ayush Mission (NAM); (b) the impact of the NAM in Jammu and Kashmir in terms of healthcare access,employment generation and promotion of traditional healing systems like Ayurveda, Yoga and Unani; and (c) the targets for the expansion of the NAM in Jammu and Kashmir and the initiatives taken to improve Ayush healthcare infrastructure, particularly in rural and underserved areas? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) Under National Ayush Mission (NAM), an amount of ₹8,577.602 lakhs has been sanctioned/allocated (Central Share & UT Share) during the last two years. The UT Government has reported an expenditure of ₹5,632.32 lakh against this allocation. (b) With regard to impact of NAM in Jammu and Kashmir in terms of healthcare access, employment generation and promotion of Ayush, UT Government has reported that a total of 523 Ayush Dispensaries has been upgraded as Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) to provide holistic wellness services through different Ayush interventions, covering preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative care. Further, nine Integrated Ayush Hospitals (IAHs) including seven 50-bedded and two 10-bedded hospitals have been approved for establishment in Jammu and Kashmir to bridge gaps in secondary-level Ayush healthcare. Additionally, 43 new Ayush dispensaries have been established in the UT. 1Further as reported by the UT Government the following personnel have been engaged on a contractual/outsourcing basis for to promote employment generation for strengthening of service delivery: 28 service delivery staff (doctors and paramedics), 195 yoga instructors (106 male and 89 female), 177 multi-purpose workers under Ayush Public Health Programmes, 20 data entry operators under District Programme Management Units (DPMUs), and 140 unskilled attendants/support staff. These initiatives aim to enhance healthcare access and promote Ayush systems of medicine across the UT. (c) As implementation of NAM Scheme is being done with the support of UT Government, accordingly, the primary responsibility to take initiatives for the expansion of NAM in Jammu & Kashmir for improving Ayush healthcare infrastructure particularly in rural and underserved areas lies with respective UT Government. ***** 2
