Parliament Question: Allocation of Fund to West Bengal under VB-G RAM-G

Shri Adhikari Deepak Dev: Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) the total fund allocated to West Bengal under Viksit Bharat- Guarantee for Rojgar and Aajeevika Mission-Gramin (VB-G RAM- G) scheme for the Financial Year 2025-26; (b) whether any fund has been released to the State of West Bengal during the last two months, if so, the details thereof; (c) whether any fund has been released to West Bengal which was pending for the last three years, if so, the details thereof; and (d) if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI KAMLESH PASWAN) (a) to (d): The Viksit Bharat - Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin)(VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025 has come into force with effect from 1st July, 2026 in rural areas of the entire country including in the State of West Bengal. In accordance with the provisions of the VB-G RAM G Act, 2025, an interim allocation of ₹8,508 crore has been approved for the State of West Bengal for the FY 2026–27 under the scheme. Thereafter, a financial sanction of ₹ 1264.50 crore, as first installment, have been issued based on the demand for funds raised by the State. The release of funds to the State of West Bengal under Mahatma Gandhi NREGS was stopped with effect from 09.03.2022 by invoking the provisions of Section 27 of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005, owing to continued non- compliance with the directives of the Central Government by the State. Hence, no fund was released to the State during the last three financial years.
