Allocation of Funds under Samagra Shiksha Scheme in Gujarat

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the total amount of funds allocated and utilised under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme in the
State of Gujarat particularly in the Dahod Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency in Gujarat
during the last three years and the current year;
(b) the number of new school buildings, smart classrooms and toilets constructed for girls under
the said Scheme in the said Constituency;
(c) the special measures taken by the Government to reduce the drop-out rate among tribal
students in the said Constituency; and
(d) whether any proposal regarding the upgradation of schools in the said Constituency is
pending with the Government and if so, the details thereof?

(a): Under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme, details of funds allocated, released and utilized in
Gujarat, including Dahod district, during the last three years and the current year is as under:

As informed by the state, the details of funds allocated and utilized under the Samagra Shiksha
Scheme for Dahod Lok Sabha Constituency are as follows:

(upto June, 26)(b): As informed by the state, 2419 class rooms, 6219 Smart Classes and 428 toilets for girls
were approved since 2023-24 to till date for Dahod Lok Sabha constituency.
(c): Under Samagra Shiksha, financial assistance is provided to the States and UTs for
various activities to reduce dropout and increase enrolment in Government schools including
among tribal students, which include opening/strengthening of new schools up to Senior
Secondary level, strengthening school infrastructure including toilets, setting up and up
gradation and setting up of residential schools/hostels like NSCBAVs, (KGBVs), hostels under
PM-JANMAN and DAJGUA, transport allowance, undertaking enrolment drives, special
training for age-appropriate admission of Out of School Children(OoSC),seasonal
hostels/residential camps, provision of vocational education and ICT facilities in schools,
providing free text books and free uniform, transport/escort facility, etc, financial
assistance/grant is also provided for aids and appliances for children with special needs.
Further, to reduce the drop out among the tribal students in the Constituency, total 11
seasonal hostels were approved by the state government in the Dahod district. Since 2023-24,
number of children benefitted from the different measures taken by the state to reduce dropout in
Dahod district are as under:

Besides the above, under PM POSHAN, hot cooked mid-day meal is served to children
studying in Balvatika to class 8 in government/government aided schools on all school working
days.
(d): Education is in the concurrent list of the Constitution and majority of the schools are
under the domain of respective State and UT Governments. The annual plans under Samagra
Shiksha are prepared by the States and UTs based on their requirements including upgradation of
schools and priority and this is reflected in their respective Annual Work Plan and Budget
(AWP&B). These plans are then appraised and approved by Project Approval Board (PAB) in
consultation with the States and UTs as per the programmatic and financial norms of the scheme.
In PAB 2026-27, ten (10) Upper primary schools were approved for upgradation up to secondary
level.
