SHRI BALYA MAMA SURESH GOPINATH MHATRE: Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING मत्स्यपालन,पशुपालन और डये री मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the details of the jurisdiction of the Animal Welfare Board of India in Maharashtra; (b) the number of Gaushalas recognized by the said Board during the last three years along with the details of the financial assistance provided to them, year, State/district-wise; (c) whether applications from Gaushalas in Maharashtra those are seeking recognition and financial assistance are pending with the said Board; and (d) if so, the date since which such applications have been pending, the reasons for their pendency along with the details of the Gaushalas located in the Lok Sabha Constituency Bhiwandi? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING (SHRI RAJIV RANJAN SINGH ALIAS LALAN SINGH) (a) The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) is a statutory body constituted under Section 4 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Its jurisdiction extends throughout India, including the State of Maharashtra. (b) During the last three years, AWBI has recognised 59 Gaushalas across the country, out of which the financial assistance was released to 7 Gaushalas amounting ₹ 20,22,950/-. The year-wise, State-wise and district-wise number of Gaushalas recognised alognwith the details of financial assistance released during last three years are given in Annexure-I. (c) and (d) As on date, 43 applications for recognition from Gaushalas in the State of Maharashtra are received and under consideration with the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). The applications are at various stages of processing. However, no application for financial assistance from any Gaushala in the State of Maharashtra is pending with the AWBI. AWBI does not maintain application data constituency-wise. However, Bhiwandi Lok Sabha Constituency falls within Thane District, from which 2 applications for seeking recognition from Gaushalas have been received and are under consideration.
