In response to Unstarred Question No. 940 in Lok Sabha, answered on February 5th, 2026, by the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries (Shri Ravneet Singh), regarding the approval of new Food Processing Industries (FPIs), the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been incentivizing the setup of related industries through two Central Sector Schemes: Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) and PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME). These schemes are demand-driven and implemented across the country.
The details of approved projects and subsidies granted are as follows:
**PMKSY:**
* 2022-23: 221 projects approved, with a subsidy/grant of Rs 1299.26 crores.
* 2023-24: 179 projects approved, with a subsidy/grant of Rs 947.04 crores.
* 2024-25: 2 projects approved, with a subsidy/grant of Rs 19.20 crores.
**PMFME:**
* 2022-23: 28492 projects approved, with a subsidy/grant of Rs 730.94 crores.
* 2023-24: 54594 projects approved, with a subsidy/grant of Rs 1492.83 crores.
* 2024-25: 50875 projects approved, with a subsidy/grant of Rs 1497.68 crores.
The MoFPI does not set up any food processing industries on its own; therefore, the transfer of ownership from one entity to another does not arise.

Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has given approval for new Food Processing Industries (FPIs)
during the last three years;
(b) if so, the details of the approvals given during the same period, year-wise;
(c) whether the Government has allocated ownership of any public sector unit to any
private sector company during the same period; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): In order to promote and ensure overall development of food processing sector,
Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been incentivizing for setting up of related
industries through its two Central Sector Scheme viz. Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA
Yojana (PMKSY), Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry
(PLISFPI) and a Centrally sponsored PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises
(PMFME). These schemes are not region or state specific but demand driven and being
implemented across the country.
