(a) the aims and objectives of the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme
(PMEGP);
(b) the number of units assisted under PMEGP in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh during
the last three years and the current year, year-wise;
(c) the quantum of assistance provided to the above units; and
(d) the steps being taken to support more units under PMEGP in Anakapalli in particular and
Andhra Pradesh in general?

(a): Ministry of MSME, through Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), is
implementing Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) for assisting
entrepreneurs in setting up of new micro-enterprises in the non-farm sector across the country. The
Objectives of the PMEGP Scheme as per Scheme guidelines are as follows: -
(i) To generate employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas of the country through
setting up of new self-employment ventures/projects/micro enterprises.
(ii) To bring together widely dispersed traditional artisans/ rural and urban unemployed youth
and give them self-employment opportunities to the extent possible, at their place.
(iii) To provide continuous and sustainable employment to a large segment of traditional and
prospective artisans and rural and urban unemployed youth in the country, so as to help
arrest migration of rural youth to urban areas.
(b) and (c): No. of units assisted under PMEGP in Anakapalli district of Andhra Pradesh and the
quantum of financial assistance provided in the form of Margin Money (MM) subsidy during the
last three years and the current year i.e. FY 2022-23 to FY 2025-26 (as on 21.07.2025):

(d): The initiatives taken by Government to support more units under PMEGP across India
including the State of Andhra Pradesh and Anakapalli district include the following:
i. Enhancement of maximum project cost from Rs. 25 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh for manufacturing
sector and from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh for service sector.
