However, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM), the State/UT Governments are supported for implementation of "Ayurvidya", an Ayush Public Health Programme for the promotion of healthy lifestyles through Ayush for school children, including students of Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas. Ayurvidya emphasizes on school children for promotion of healthy lifestyle & integrative diet education encompassing dietary principles from Ayush System and also to educate children about the role of yoga for fitness and wellbeing. There is no proposal to establish AYUSH wellness centres. Therefore, part (c) of the question doesn't arise.

Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether in view of the preventive healthcare principles of AYUSH, the Government has
taken any initiative to provide regular health check-ups, preventive care and AYUSH-based
treatment to students of Navodaya Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas and other schools for
ensuring better health of the younger generation and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether there is any proposal to establish AYUSH wellness centres in Kasturba Gandhi
Balika Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and other residential schools; and
(c) if so, the details thereof along with the timeline fixed for implementation of any such
proposal in this regard?

(a) Public health being a State subject, the primary responsibility to take initiative for
providing regular health check-ups, preventive care and Ayush based treatment to students of
schools lies with respective State/UT Government. However, under Centrally Sponsored
Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM), the State/UT Governments are being supported for
implementation of a dedicated Ayush Public Health Programme “Ayurvidya” for Promotion of
healthy lifestyle through Ayush for school children including students of Navodaya
Vidyalayas, Kendriya Vidyalayas, as per the proposals received in their State Annual Action
Plans (SAAPs). This programme has been designed with special emphasis on school children
for promotion of healthy lifestyle & integrative diet education encompassing dietary
principles from Ayush System and also to educate children about the role of yoga for fitness
and wellbeing.
(b) No such proposal.
