GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3534 TO BE ANSWERED ON 24.03.2026 Ayush dispensaries in Kushinagar district of U.P. 3534 Shri Ratanjit Pratap Narain Singh: Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state: (a) the total number of AYUSH dispensaries and health and wellness Centres currently operational in Kushinagar district; (b) the details of central funds allocated and utilized for upgrading these facilities during the last two financial years; (c) the number of patients who accessed Ayurvedic and Homeopathic treatments at these centres over the past six months; (d) the steps taken to integrate AYUSH wellness practices into the local tourism circuit surrounding the Kushinagar buddhist sites; and (e) the measures implemented to ensure a continuous supply of essential AYUSH medicines to these rural dispensaries? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) & (b) As reported by State Government of Uttar Pradesh, 89 number of Ayush Dispensaries are available in Kushinagar district, out of which 35 Ayush Dispensaries have been upgraded as Ayush Health and Wellness Centres (now renamed as Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush) [AAM(Ayush)] under National Ayush Mission (NAM). Under NAM, the status of funds allocated/released and utilized as central share for the State Government of Uttar Pradesh including Kushinagar district during the last two years is furnished at Annexure. Under NAM, consolidated funds are allocated/released to the State/UT Governments and no funds are allocated/released District/Unit-wise by the Ministry. 1(c) As reported by State Government of Uttar Pradesh, the number of patients who have accessed Ayurvedic and Homeopathic treatments in these Centres over the past six months are as follows:- S. No. Stream No. of Patients 1 Ayurveda 124928 2 Homeopathy 5622 (d) & (e) Public Health being a State subject, the primary responsibility to integrate Ayush wellness practices into the local tourism circuit surrounding the Kushinagar buddhist sites and to ensure a continuous supply of essential Ayush medicines to rural dispensaries comes under purview of respective State Government. As informed by State Government of Uttar Pradesh, the following measures have taken to integrate Ayush wellness practices into the local tourism circuit surrounding the Kushinagar Buddhist sites:- 1. 04 Yoga Wellness Centers are delivering Yoga services to the common people on Institutional and Outreach basis. Yoga sessions are organized at the district level from time to time with the aim of promoting Yoga and Health Tourism. 2. Yoga services are also being delivered by the AAM (Ayush) situated in Kushinagar. 3. Ayush Mobile Medical Unit is providing Outreach Health Services in Kushinagar. 4. Ayurveda treatments have also been included in the tourist packages available to pilgrims and tourists visiting the district. For this purpose, a Government Ayurvedic Hospital is operational near the main gate of the Mahaparinirvana site and close to the temple in Kushinagar/AAM(Ayush), where treatments are provided through Ayurveda and Yoga, along with the promotion and dissemination of Yoga and Ayurveda. Further, under NAM, there is provision of financial assistance for supply of essential Ayush medicines to Ayush dispensaries. State Government may avail financial assistance by submitting suitable proposals through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs). State Government of Uttar Pradesh has informed that regular monitoring and evaluation of the medicines stock are done at the Divisional Ayurvedic and Unani Officer and District Homeopathic Medical Officer level, so that continuous supply of Ayush medicines could be maintained in Kushinagar. ***** 2Annexure Year-wise status of funds allocated/released and utilized for the State Government of Uttar Pradesh including Kushinagar district during the last two years (Rs. in lakhs) Central Share Utilized Central Share Financial Year (As reported by State released Government) 2023-24 12418.60 11925.30 2024-25 13903.18 8172.22 3
