AYUSH Hospital in Bihar
4657. Shri Janardan Singh Sigriwal:
Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has established any AYUSH hospitals in Bihar and if so, the details
thereof including bed capacity and the year of establishment;
(b) whether there are any dedicated AYUSH treatment facilities or IPD units operational in
Government hospitals in Bihar and if so, the details thereof including the number of such
facilities and the services provided, district-wise;
(c) whether any new AYUSH hospitals or treatment facilities are proposed or under construction
in Bihar under schemes like Ayushman Bharat or National AYUSH Mission including timelines,
funding allocated and expected capacity thereof;
(d) whether the Government has data on the utilization rate, patient footfall and availability of
manpower in existing AYUSH hospitals and facilities in Bihar and if so, the details thereof for
the last three years; and
(e) whether there are any plans to expand AYUSH infrastructure in Bihar to improve access in
rural and underserved areas of the State and if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER

(a) & (b) Public Health being a State subject, the primary responsibility to establish any Ayush
hospitals, In Patient Department (IPD) units or treatment facilities comes under purview of
respective State Government. However under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush
Mission (NAM) there is a provision for establishment of 50/30/10 bedded Integrated Ayush
Hospital. State/UT Governments may avail the financial assistance by submitting suitable
proposal through State Annual Action Plan (SAAP). As informed by State Government of Bihar
following Ayush hospitals/Treatment facilities with IPD units are situated in State of Bihar for
providing Ayush Health Care services:-

& Hospital, Begusarai(c) Based on the proposals submitted by the State Government of Bihar, the Ministry of Ayush
has approved Rs 902.07 lakh for one 50 bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Nawab Manjil,
Patna under NAM. As reported by the State Government, the construction of the hospital has
been completed.
Further, Rs. 2350.789 lakh have been approved till 2024-25 and 294 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs
(Ayush) have been made functional in the State of Bihar by upgrading existing Ayush
dispensaries and Health Sub-Centres.
(d) & (e) Since Public Health is a State subject, the primary responsibility for collecting data on
utilization rates, patient footfall, availability of manpower, and for formulating plans to expand
Ayush infrastructure in Bihar to improve access in rural and underserved areas rests with the
respective State Government. However, based on the proposals submitted through SAAPs, the
details of major activities supported by the Ministry to Bihar State under NAM to expand
infrastructure and improve access in rural and underserved areas are furnished in the Annexure.
Further, as reported by State Government of Bihar, a total 118 number of Human resources are
posted and 15,55,850 beneficiaries were benefitted with various services through these centres in
past three years.

Major activities supported under NAM in the State of Bihar from 2014-15 to 2024-25
(i) 1 units supported for setting up of Integrated Ayush hospitals.
(ii) 10 Ayush dispensaries have been supported for Up-gradation of infrastructure and other
facilities.
(iii) 450 PHCs, have been supported under co-location for recurring assistance of medicines and
contingency.
(iv) 2929 Ayush dispensaries have been supported for supply of essential Ayush medicines.
(v) 2 Under-Graduate and 1 Post-Graduate Ayush Educational Institutes have been supported
for Upgradation of infrastructure, Library and other things.
(vi) 12 Ayush Grams have been supported.
(vii) 294 Ayushman Arogya Mandir(Ayush) have been supported.
