(a) whether the Government has launched the AYUSH- Indian Council of Medical Research
(ICMR) Advanced Centre for Integrated Health Research in All India Institute of Medical
Sciences (AIIMS);
(b) if so, the salient features along with the objectives for launching the said centre;
(c) whether the Government has also announced any mega joint initiatives between Ministry
of AYUSH and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the kind of AYUSH healthcare facilities that are likely
to be provided in these centres?

(a)&(b) Government of India has launched the Ayush-ICMR Centres at All India Institute of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to develop integrative health research through
integrating Ayush system with conventional bio-medicine and modern technology to
bring integrative health care to the people for improved patient outcome through
innovations related to diagnostics, preventive, health promotive as well as treatment
methods.
The objectives of establishing Ayush-ICMR Advanced Centre for Integrative
Research at AIIMS are as under:-• To harness the mutual understanding and research environment between the
different systems of medicine leading to Integrative Health Research.
• To identify priority areas where the approach of integrative medicine may
have potential and conduct integrative research in these priority areas to
generate robust evidence.
• To develop Integrative management protocols with inputs from both
traditional and modern medicine in the identified priority diseases based on the
generated evidence.
• To carry out mechanistic studies to explain the integrative medicine approach.
• To develop guidelines and establish pathways to facilitate cross referrals
utilizing the integrative medicine approach.
Under this program, four research areas in four AIIMS have been identified as
follows:-
1. AIIMS Delhi:
i) Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research in Gastro-intestinal
Disorders
ii) Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research in Women and Child
Health
2. AIIMS Jodhpur: Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research in Geriatric
Health
3. AIIMS Nagpur: Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research in Cancer
Care
4. AIIMS Rishikesh: Advanced Centre for Integrative Health Research in
Geriatric Health
(c) The Government has announced mega joint initiatives between the Ministry of Health
& Family Welfare and Ministry of Ayush on Multicentre clinical trial on Anaemia.
CCRAS under the Ministry of Ayush and ICMR has undertaken a research study on
Anaemia entitled “Efficacy and safety of Punarnavadi Mandura alone and in
combination with Drakshavaleha compared to iron folic acid in the treatment of
moderate iron deficiency anaemia among non-pregnant women of reproductive age
group”: a community-based three arm multicenter randomized controlled trial. The
eight sites identified Zfor the study are Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical
Sciences (MGIMS)-Wardha, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)
Jodhpur, National institute of Traditional Medicine (NITM) Belagavi, RajendraInstitute Of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Ranchi, King Edward Memorial (KEM)

(d) The Ayush-ICMR Advanced Centers for Integrative Health Research in AIIMS will
offer integrated healthcare services, combining conventional medicine with Ayush
systems like Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy. These centers will focus on research,
diagnostics, preventive, promotive, restorative, and treatment methods for various
health conditions. Specific areas of focus include Geriatric Health, Gastro-intestinal
Disorders, Women and Child Health and Cancer Care.
