Parliament Question: AYUSH Services in Fatehgarh Sahib

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4732 TO BE ANSWERED ON 20.03.2026 AYUSH Services in Fatehgarh Sahib 4732. Dr. Amar Singh: Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has assessed the availability and utilisation of AYUSH services in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab including Sirhind, Bassi Pathana and Khamano for preventive healthcare and chronic disease management; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) the details of Government supported AYUSH infrastructure, dispensaries, wellness centres and staffing status in the district; (d) whether the Government has evaluated the requirement for expanding AYUSH outreach in rural areas and if so, the details thereof; and (e) the measures proposed to be taken by the Government for strengthening the supply of medicines, trained practitioners and public awareness programmes? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) to (e) Public Health being a State subject, the primary responsibility to assess the availability & utilization of Ayush services throughout the State including Fatehgarh Sahib district, Sirhind, Bassi Pathana & Khamano, for preventive healthcare and chronic disease management, evaluate the requirement for expanding Ayush outreach in rural areas, strengthening the supply of medicines, train Ayush practitioners, conduct public awareness programmes etc., lies with the respective State/UT Government. However, there are provisions under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of National Ayush Mission (NAM) for providing financial support for various aspects including infrastructure support for setting up of Integrated Ayush Hospitals (IAHs), construction/upgradation of Ayush Dispensaries, establishment of Ayush colleges, supply of medicines to the Ayush Health care facilities, Information Education & Communication (IEC) activities, Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) activities, training and capacity building for teaching staffs/Medical Officers/paramedical staffs working in the educational institution and Ayush Hospitals/Dispensaries. In this regard, State Governments may avail the financial assistance 1by submitting suitable proposals through State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) as per the provisions of the NAM guideline. As reported by State Government of Punjab, they have assessed the availability and utilization of Ayush services in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab including Sirhind, Bassi Pathana and Khamano for preventive healthcare and chronic disease management and 10 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Ayush), 03 Ayush Dispensaries, co-located Ayush units at 09 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 06 Community Health Centres (CHCs) & 01 District Hospital (DH) have been made functional in the Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab. During January 2025 to December 2025, a total of 1,03,680 patients have utilized the services of these facilities for preventive healthcare and chronic disease management. Further, State Government of Punjab has evaluated the requirement for expanding Ayush outreach in rural areas and 15 outreach medical camps have been organized, predominately in the rural areas of Punjab.
