Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether any assessment has been made of the current status of Ayurveda, Yoga &
Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) services in Uttar Pradesh
particularly in Banda Chitrakoot region, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether there is any proposal under consideration for establishing an AYUSH
Hospital, Wellness Centres production units for medicinal plants in the said area and
if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any assessment has been made by the Government the likely impacts of these
initiatives on local employment, health services and medicinal plant based industries;
and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER

(a) Public Health is a state subject, assessment of current status of Ayush services in
Uttar Pradesh comes under the purview of State Government. As reported by the State
regular assessments of Ayush Dispensaries/Ayush Hospitals/Pharmacies etc. are being made
by District Ayurvedic & Unani Officer and District Homeopathic Medical Officer on regular
basis. There are 22 State Ayurvedic Dispensaries, 04 Unani Dispensaries and 27
Homeopathic Dispensaries in Banda. There are 09 State Ayurvedic Dispensaries and 16
Homeopathic Dispensaries in Chitrakoot. Apart from that there are 12 Ayushman Aarogya
Mandir (Ayush) in Banda and 05 AAM (Ayush) in Chitrakoot district delivering Ayush and
Yoga services. In addition to these there are 04 Yoga wellness centres in Banda and 02 Yoga
wellness centres in Chitrakoot delivering Yoga services.
(b) Public health being a State subject, the establishment of Ayush hospitals, AAM
(Ayush), erstwhile Ayush Health and Wellness Centres, and medicinal plant units in the
1Banda Chitrakoot region falls under the purview of the respective State Government,
including Uttar Pradesh. However, the Ministry of Ayush providing financial assistance to
State/UT Governments, including Uttar Pradesh, as per the proposals received through their
State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) as per the provisions of NAM guidelines.
(c) and (d) It has been observed by visiting teams during field visits that OPD footfall of the
beneficiaries visiting to the AAM (Ayush) has been subsequently increased after upgradation
of Ayush Dispensaries/Sub health centers into AAM (Ayush) because in addition to OPD
services, these facilities are also providing various other health services like Prakriti
Parikshan, Yoga related activities at the level of facility as well as community, awareness
about uses of common medicinal plants etc.
Further, State Government has informed that establishment of AAM (Ayush) and Yoga
wellness centres has also created local employment especially for the Yoga Professionals.
Currently there is a provision of 12 male and 12 female Yoga instructors in 12 AAM (Ayush)
in Banda. Similarly there is a provision of 05 male & 05 female Yoga Instructors in 05
Ayushman Aarogya Mandir in Chitrakoot. In addition to this there is provision of 04 Yoga
Instructors and Yoga Assistant in 04 Yoga wellness centres in Banda and there is provision of
02 Yoga Instructors and 02 Yoga Assistants in Chitrakoot.
