Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AYUSH) established under National
AYUSH Mission (NAM) so far and the total number of beneficiaries who have availed
services from these centres so far, State/UT-wise;
(b) whether the Government proposes to establish Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AYUSH) in
industrial areas such as Bhiwandi in Maharashtra with a view to addressing the health
problems of workers and establishing a comprehensive healthcare model;
(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) whether the Government has conducted any assessment/evaluation of the impact of these
centres on public health and the key findings of such evaluations; and
(e) the steps taken by the Government to enhance the effectiveness of AYUSH services in the
country?

(a) Under Centrally Sponsored Scheme National Ayush Mission (NAM), as per the
proposals received from State / UT Governments through their State Annual Action Plans
(SAAPs), 12500 units of existing Ayush Dispensaries and Sub Health Centres (SCs) has been
upgraded for operationalisation as Ayush Health & Wellness Centres now renamed as
Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) [(AAM(Ayush)]. The State/UT-wise status of approved
and functional AAM (Ayush) is furnished at Annexure I. Further, as reported by State/UT
Governments, the State/UT-wise number of beneficiaries availed the services through AAM
(Ayush) from year 2021 to 2025 is furnished at Annexure II.
(b) & (c) Public Health being State Subject, the primary responsibility for establishment of
AAM (Ayush) in industrial areas such as Bhiwandi in Maharashtra to address the health
1problems of workers and establishing a comprehensive healthcare model lies with respective
State Government. As reported by State Government of Maharashtra, one AAM (Ayush) is
located at Primary Health Unit (PHU) Village Kunda, Block Bhiwandi, District Thane and
co-located Ayush Wings are also functional at Sub District Hospital, Bhiwandi & rural
Hospital Ambadiphata Block Bhiwandi, District Thane for addressing the health problems of
workers, adjacent to industrial area of Bhiwandi.
(d) & (e) Yes. There are third party review and also NABH assessment besides visit by the
Central team in different States/UTs to review the implementation progress of different
activities/services being provided by established AAM (Ayush) which were approved with an
objective to establish a holistic wellness model based on Ayush principles and practices
focusing on preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative healthcare by establishing
integration with existing public healthcare system to provide informed choice to the needy
public by making Ayush services available in a team based approach.
It has been observed by visiting teams that footfall of the beneficiaries visiting to the
AAM (Ayush) has been subsequently increased after upgradation of Ayush Dispensaries/Sub
health centers into AAM (Ayush) because in addition to OPD services, these facilities are
also providing various other services like Prakriti Parikshan, Yoga related activities at the
level of facility as well as community, awareness about uses of common medicinal plants etc.
Further, State/UT Governments have been suggested by the visiting team for appropriate
training & capacity building of AAM (Ayush) team, strengthening of referral linkages with
other public health facilities, effective involvement of field level workers specially ASHAs
etc. for better outcome of the activities being conducted through AAM (Ayush).
