BENEFICIARIES UNDER PMUY IN WEST BENGAL

Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:
(a) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala
Yojana (PMUY) in West Bengal, district-wise, since 2019;
(b) the details of the number beneficiaries provided with LPG connections under the said
scheme in West Bengal since 2019, district-wise and year-wise, particularly in Darjeeling and
Kalimpong; and
(c) the total number of beneficiaries who have received free LPG connections and refill
subsidies under the said scheme in Darjeeling and Kalimpong during the said period?

(a) to (c): Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched in May, 2016 with an
objective to provide deposit free LPG connection to adult women from poor households
across the country.As on 01.03.2026, there were about 10.56 crore PMUY connections across
the country including 1.23 crore connections in the state of West Bengal.
District-wise number of PMUY connections released during the period 2019-20 to 2025-26
(up to01.03.2026) in the state of West Bengal are at Annexure – A.
Further, OMCs have released 26,436 connections in Darjeeling and 2,628 connections in
Kalimpong during the period from 2019–20 to 2025–26 (up to 01.03.2026).
State/UT/District-wise allocation of funds is not done under PMUY. The details of funds
allocation and utilization under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) since FY 2019-20

In addition to above, Government has paid a compensation of Rs. 22,000 crore to OMCs in
FY 2022-23 for the under recoveries incurred by PSU OMCs on sale of domestic LPG and
has approved another compensation of Rs. 30,000 crore in FY 2025-26.
