(a) the details of the schemes/programmes implemented by the Government to provide
clean cooking fuel in the rural areas of the country including Chhattisgarh;
(b) the details of the biogas plants set up in Chhattisgarh during the last three years, and
(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to increase biogas production and
introduce new technology in biogas plants in Chhattisgarh?

(a) The Government of India is implementing the following schemes/ programmes for setting up
of Biogas plants in the country, including the Chhattisgarh State.
(i) The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is implementing the Biogas
Programme for providing clean cooking fuel. The Central Financial Assistance (CFA)
ranging from ₹ 9800/- to 70,400/- per plant based on size of the plant in cubic meter for
small biogas plants (1 to 25 cubic meter per day plant capacity being provided under the
Biogas Programme ; and
(ii) Ministry of Rural Development has been supporting the installation of biogas plants for
individual users under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act
(MGNREGA) 2005.
(b) A total 665 number of small biogas plants have been installed during the year 2022-23 to 2024-25
in the state of Chhattisgarh. The year wise installed biogas plants are given below:-

(c) The efforts being undertaken under the Biogas Programme of MNRE for setting up of biogas
plants in the State of Chhattisgarh, inter-alia, include:(i) Allocation of physical target to the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development
Agency (CREDA) for installation small biogas plants in the state of Chhattisgarh during the
year 2022-23 to 2024-25 is given as under :
