Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) the progress achieved in enhancing value addition and expanding processing capacity
in the food processing sector and the status of such initiatives in the country including
Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency;
(b) the details of investments facilitated through various initiatives of the Ministry for the
establishment, expansion and modernization of food processing units including projects
undertaken in the country including in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency of Odisha
and Chhattisgarh State;
(c) the details of the measures taken by the Ministry to promote value-added food products
including millet-based products and other priority product categories along with the
initiatives undertaken in the country including Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency
in this regard; and
(d) the details of employment generated along with support extended to Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under these initiatives including the number of
beneficiaries and enterprises supported in the country including Nabarangpur Lok
Sabha Constituency?

(a) & (b): In order to promote and ensure overall development of Food Processing Industries,
Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been incentivizing setting up/ expansion
of related infrastructure, through its two Central Sector Schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Kisan
SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY), Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing
Industry (PLISFPI), and a Centrally Sponsored Scheme PM Formalization of Micro FoodProcessing Enterprises (PMFME). These schemes are demand driven and implemented across
the country including Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency of Odisha and in Chhattisgarh
State.
Under PMKSY, financial assistance is provided to entrepreneurs for setting up of food
processing industries. As on 30.06.2026, 1735 projects have been approved across the country
with approved grants in aid of Rs 9258.60 crore and private investment of about Rs 23904.74
crore, out of which 12 projects are located in Chhattisgarh state with approved grants in aid of
Rs 101.61 crore and private investment of about Rs 222.69 crore. 1256 projects are completed
/ operational under component schemes of PMKSY which have resulted in creation of about
241.55 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of processing capacity per annum across the country, out
of which 6 projects are in Chhattisgarh state with processing capacity of 1.51 LMT per annum.
Further, 6 project are located in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency of Odisha with approved
grants in aid of Rs 23.62 crore with private investment of about Rs 54.67 crore and all projects
are completed creating processing capacity of 1.43 LMT per annum.
PLISFPI is targeted to facilitate expansion of food processing capacity by creating
champion brands in Food Processing Sector. As on 30.06.2026, 163 applications from 127
companies, at 212 locations have been approved across the country with actual investment of
Rs. 9207 crore against the target committed investment of Rs.7722 crore, out of which 1
proposal is located in Chhattisgarh State with actual investment of Rs. 45.14 crore. No project
under PLISFPI has been approved in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency of Odisha.
Under PMFME scheme, financial, technical and business support is provided for setting
up / upgradation of micro food processing enterprises. As on 30.06.2026, 200421 micro food
enterprises are approved with credit linked subsidy of Rs 5954.57 crore and private investment
of about Rs 14480.24 crore across the country, out of which 1941 micro food enterprises are
approved with credit linked subsidy of Rs 84.04 crore with private investment of Rs 255.79
crore in Chhattisgarh state. Further, 172 micro food enterprises are approved with credit linked
subsidy of Rs 9.05 crore and private investment of Rs 31.62 crore in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha
Constituency of Odisha.
(c) & (d): In order to promote processing of millets and other priority products, MoFPI through
its three schemes, extends financial support to prospective entrepreneurs for setting up of
related industries, as per respective scheme guidelines across the country including
Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency of Odisha.
A component of PLISFPI scheme is focussed on Millet-Based Products (MBP) with an
outlay of Rs. 800 crores. The objectives of the PLI Scheme for Millet-Based Products
(PLISMBP) is to increase the use of millets in food products and promote their value addition
by incentivizing the manufacturing and sale of selected millet-based products in both domestic
and export markets. As on date, out of total allocation of Rs. 800 crores for PLISMBP, an
amount of Rs.793.27 crore has been approved to incentivise 29 applicants, which includes 8
large and 21 Small & Medium entities.
Under PMFME Scheme, Millet based products have been identified as One District
One Product (ODOP) in 21 districts in the country. As on 30.06.2026, under PMFME Scheme,5515 micro food processing enterprises with subsidy of Rs. 111.39 crore for millet processing
units has been approved across the country, out of which 5 micro food processing enterprises
with subsidy of Rs. 11.29 lakh have been approved in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency
of Odisha.
Six food processing units for millets have been approved in the country under Creation/
Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities (CEFPPC), a component scheme of
PMKSY.
MoFPI provides subsidy/incentives to the eligible entities, including Micro, Small and
Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), through its schemes. 9.16 lakh direct/ indirect employment
opportunities have been generated from the operational projects, as on 30.06.2026, under
component schemes of PMKSY across the country, out of which 4249 direct/ indirect
employment opportunities have been generated in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Constituency of
Odisha.
6.01 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities have been generated under
PMFME scheme across the country, out of which 516 in the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha
Constituency of Odisha, as on 30.06.2026.
3.35 lakh direct/ indirect employment opportunities have been generated under
PLISFPI across the country, as on 30.06.2026.
