SHAMBAVI: SHRI VISHALDADA PRAKASHBAPU PATIL: Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state: (a) whether the twenty thousand crore allocation for Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies marks a definitive shift toward "Green Chemistry" in industrial policy of the country, if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the integration of carbon capture in chemical manufacturing help the country to meet stringent global environmental standards in imports, if so, the details thereof; (c) whether the scheme to revive two hundred legacy industrial clusters successfully modernizes traditional units with energy-efficient technologies, if so, the details thereof; (d) whether the Government’s focus on CCUS catalyzes private sector investment in carbon- neutral manufacturing processes, if so, the details thereof; (e) whether the said green initiatives effectively bridge the gap between industrial expansion and global climate commitments of the country; and (f) if so, whether the transition to low-carbon technology in the chemical sector creates a new competitive advantage for Indian manufacturers globally, if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR CHEMICALS & FERTILIZERS (SMT. ANUPRIYA PATEL) (a) to (f): As per the budget announcement made this year, an outlay of ₹20,000 crore has been proposed over the next 5 years for Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Technologies. The objective is promoting the development of these technologies at scale inorder to achieve higher readiness levels in end use applications across five industrial sectors including, power, steel, cement, refineries and chemicals. The scheme is presently under formulation by Ministry of Power. In terms of the scheme, the industry will be supported for undertaking projects towards carbon capture, utilization and storage, thereby contributing towards decreasing the overall carbon footprint of the country. Implementation of the scheme in due course would act as a catalyst in order to support the industry to grow in a more sustainable manner, thereby making it more competitive in global markets. The scheme to revive two hundred legacy industrial clusters is currently under formulation by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). *****
