BYREDDY SHABARI: Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ(cid:874)ष एवं (cid:873)कसान क(cid:227)याण मं(cid:287)ी be pleased to state: (a) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised for establishment and operation of Centres of Excellence for Horticulture and related protected cultivation activities during the last five years in the country, State/UT and year-wise; (b) the number of farmers trained through these Centres and adopting protected cultivation during the last five years along with the total area covered, State/UT and year- wise especially district-wise in Andhra Pradesh; (c) whether such Centres are mandated to demonstrate advanced horticultural technologies including protected cultivation, precision irrigation, if so, the details of demonstration activities conducted during the last five years, State/UT-wise; (d) the quantity and type of elite planting material, vegetable seedlings or nursery stock produced and supplied by these Centres during the said period; and (e) whether any assessment has been undertaken to evaluate the impact of these Centres on adoption of protected cultivation and improvement in farmer incomes and if so, the findings thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ(cid:874)ष एवं (cid:873)कसान क(cid:227)याण रा(cid:207)य मं(cid:287)ी (SHRI BHAGIRATH CHOUDHARY) (a) Government is implementing Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme for holistic development of horticulture sector in the country. State/UT wise details of funds allocated, released and utilised under MIDH for various activities including Centres of Excellence for Horticulture and related protected cultivation activities during the last five years is placed at Annexure I.(b): Details of the number of farmers trained through these CoEs and adopting protected cultivation during the last five years and State/UT and year-wise details of the total area covered under protected cultivation in MIDH scheme, is placed at Annexure II and Annexure III respectively. (c): Yes. Centres of Excellence (CoEs) established under MIDH have a mandate to demonstrate advanced horticultural technologies to farmers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. Demonstrations conducted under CoEs mainly include activities related to protected cultivation, irrigation & fertigation techniques, high density planting techniques, nursery and orchard management practices etc. (d): Centre of Excellence under MIDH produces planting material related to all horticulture crops i.e. fruits, vegetables, flowers etc. as per the requirement of the farmers of the region. State-wise details of the Quality Planting Material produced at the CoEs under MIDH scheme during the last five years is placed at Annexure IV. (e): Yes. The activities of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) established under MIDH are periodically monitored and reviewed in coordination with the concerned State Governments through progress reports, field visits and review meetings. The reviews indicate that these Centres have played a significant role in demonstration and dissemination of advanced horticulture technologies, particularly protected cultivation practices such as polyhouses, shade-net houses, precision irrigation and improved nursery management techniques. The adoption of these technologies has contributed to improved productivity, better quality produce, efficient use of water and inputs, and enhanced income opportunities for farmers in several States.
