(a) whether the Government is aware of the rise in "country chicken" (Natu Kode) retail prices
in Andhra Pradesh, surging above mutton levels due to disease outbreak and supply-shortage;
(b) if so, the central disease-control, bio-security or poultry-insurance measures have been
activated for State poultry farmers and if not, the reasons therefor;
(c) the detail of Central support available for stabilising small poultry-farmer incomes in Andhra
Pradesh affected by such situation; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) As per information received from the State Animal Husbandry Department Government of
Andhra Pradesh, price of country chicken (naatu kodi) is around Rs. 500/- per Kg, whereas mutton
is around Rs. 900/-per Kg.
(b) In view of the reply at (a) above, the question does not arise.
(c) & (d) The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India is
providing 50% assistance to the State Government for payment of compensation for culling
of birds, eggs and destruction of feed under the Assistance to State for Control of Animal Diseases
(ASCAD) programme for control and containment of Bird Flu outbreak. Further, under the
Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme, the Department of Animal Husbandry and
Dairying, Government of India is providing assistance to state for conducting vaccination of
important poultry diseases.
The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India is also providing 50%
capital subsidy up to Rs. 25 lakh under the National Livestock Mission for establishment of poultry
