US; and
(c) how Government looks at the recent statement made by the Chief Adviser of the interim
Government of Bangladesh that attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh is a propaganda?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
(SHRI KIRTI VARDHAN SINGH)
(a) & (b) In response to the Pahalgam terror attack perpetrated by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists on 22
April 2025, India took a number of diplomatic steps and launched Operation Sindoor targeting
terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. On 10 May 2025, the
Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan approached his Indian counterpart to
request for cessation of firing and military activities, which was agreed to later that day. Government
have publicly clarified on several occasions that this understanding was arrived at directly between
the two DGsMO.
(c) The Government of India continuously monitors incidents of attacks against minorities in
Bangladesh, including of their homes, properties, businesses and places of worship. India has
consistently raised the matter of safety and security of the minorities with the authorities in
Bangladesh, at both political and diplomatic levels. The troubling tendency by the interim
government to attribute attacks on minorities to personal rivalries, political differences, or other
extraneous reasons only emboldens the extremists and the perpetrators of such crimes, and deepens
the sense of fear and insecurity among the minorities.
India’s concerns and sensitivities with regard to incidents related to minorities have been
clearly conveyed to the Government of Bangladesh, including at the highest political levels. The
primary responsibility for the protection of life and liberty of all citizens of Bangladesh, including its
minorities, rests with the Government of Bangladesh.
