Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to set up CIPET Centre to impart training to youths in
Plastic and Petrochemical Sector, at Dahod in Gujarat, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has formulated any strategy to focus on ‘Make in India’ and
‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ through CIPET in industrial State like Gujarat and if so, the details
thereof;and
(c) whether Scholarships or special training have been provided to youths through CIPET for
their skill development at Dahod in Gujarat, if so, the details thereof?

(a) No, Sir. Currently, there is no proposal under consideration for setting up a CIPET Centre
at Dahod, Gujarat. However, CIPET has an Institute of Petrochemicals Technology (IPT) and
Centre for Skilling and Technical Support (CSTS) at Ahmedabad, a Sub-Centre at Bhavnagar
and another Centre for Skilling and Technical Support (CSTS) at Navsari in Gujarat. Also, one
more CSTS and a Plastic Waste Management Centre (PWMC) at Sanand are under
construction. These centers are expected to cater to the training and technological support needs
of Gujarat state.
(b) CIPET has played a vital role in developing the skilled workforce required for the
Petrochemicals and Plastics sector in Gujarat. Currently, various skill development and skill
upgradation programs in specialized technical domains are offered by CIPET Centres in
Gujarat. Additionally, CIPET’s Technical Support Services (TSS) continue to significantly
contribute to the advancement of the local plastics industry, fostering innovation and industrial
growth.
(c) 36 candidates from the Dahod region have received training in skill development programs
at CIPET centres in Ahmedabad and Navsari in the last 3 years.
