Parliament Question: Civil Aircraft Operations at Dabolim Airport

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. : 6382 ( TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 2nd April 2026 ) CIVIL AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS AT DABOLIM AIRPORT 6382. SHRI CAPTAIN VIRIATO FERNANDES Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether any proposal is under consideration to stop civil/commercial flight operations at Dabolim airport and if so, the details and the background of taking this decision; (b) whether the State Government of Goa has been consulted with such decision and if so, the details thereof; (c) whether the Government proposes to reduce Dabolim airport to domestic airport for civil aircraft operations and if so, whether the State Government is aware of this decision or given its consent and if so, the details thereof; (d) whether any decision was taken by the Government previously to keep Dabolim airport operational for both military as well as civil aircraft and if so, the details thereof; and (e) the total number of defence airports in the country functional for both military and civil aircraft operations? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) to (d) Dabolim Airport, an International Airport belongs to the Indian Navy and the Airports Authority of India maintains the civil enclave. Both military and civil operations are undertaken at the airport. At present no proposal is under consideration in this Ministry to stop civil/commercial flight operations at Dabolim Airport or changing the status to a Domestic Airport. (e): At present, there are 33 civil enclaves in the country. ******
