Dr. Gumma Thanuja Rani: Will the Minister of COAL be pleased to state: (a) whether industries like Vizag Steel Plant have been severely affected by coal shortages in recent times and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the shortage of coal supply from Talcher coal mines has impacted the plant’s operational capacity; and (c) if so, the details thereof along with the steps taken by the Government to ensure consistent and quality coal supply to the plant? ANSWER MINISTER OF COAL AND MINES (SHRI G. KISHAN REDDY) (a): Coal has been supplied to Vizag Steel Plant as per the requirement placed by it and there is no coal shortage for the plant. (b): There has not been any shortage of coal supply from Talcher coal mines to the plant. (c): The subsidiaries of Coal India Limited supply coal to the plant as per the bilaterally agreed provisions of Fuel Supply Agreement.
