CONNECTIVITY OF GRAM PANCHAYATS

Will the Minister of Communications be pleased to state:
(a) the number of Gram Panchayats that have been made service-ready for high-speed broadband
services under the BharatNet project, as per the latest available report, State/UT-wise;
(b) the length of optical fibre cable laid, so far, under BharatNet for connecting rural areas;
(c) the number of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) connections and Wi-Fi hotspots provided in rural
areas, so far; and
(d) the current stage of implementation and the proposed timeline for connecting the remaining
Gram Panchayats?

1STATEMENT TO BE LAID ON THE TABLE OF RAJYA SABHA IN RESPECT OF PARTS
(a) TO (d) OF THE RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 04 FOR 29TH JANUARY,
2026 REGARDING “CONNECTIVITY OF GRAM PANCHAYATS.”
(a) As of December, 2025, a total of 2,14,904 GPs has been made service ready. Details are
placed at Annexure-I.
(b) As of December, 2025, a total of 6,94,911 KM (approx.) of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) has
been laid for high-speed broadband services under BharatNet project.
(c) A total of 14,07,784 Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connections (with Wi-Fi technology enabled)
have been provided through BharatNet, as of December, 2025.
(d) Amended BharatNet Program (ABP) has been approved under Design, Built, Operate &
Maintain (DBOM) model for up-gradation of existing network of BharatNet Phase-I and Phase-II,
creation of network in balance GPs, Operation & Maintenance for 10 years and utilization.
