CONTINUATION OF SAMAGRA SHIKSHA SCHEME

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has approved the continuation of the Samagra Shiksha Scheme beyond
31 March 2026 and the revised period of implementation, outlay and Central share for the 16th
Finance Commission cycle, if so, the details thereof;
(b) the budget approved for Rajasthan for the financial year 2025-26, along with the percentage of
the Central share released and utilised;
(c) the number of PM SHRI schools selected and operational in Rajasthan, including Tonk and
Sawai Madhopur as on 31 March 2026; and
(d) the number of out-of-school children identified in the survey conducted during the financial year
2024-25 along with the gender-wise details of Tonk and Sawai Madhopur?
ANSWER

(a): Samagra Shiksha Scheme approved for the XVth Finance Commission cycle ended on 31st
March, 2026. However, Ministry of Finance has granted an interim extension for continuation of
the Scheme from 1st April, 2026 to 30th September, 2026. The Budgetary Estimates of the Samagra
Shiksha Scheme for the period 2026-27 is ₹ 42,100/- crore. The Scheme is to be appraised and
approved by the competent authority for continuation beyond 31st March, 2026.
(b): Under Samagra Shiksha Scheme, annual plans are prepared by the respective State/UT as
per their requirement and priorities. These annual plans are appraised and approved by the Project
Approval Board in the Department in consultation with the respective State/UT, as per the
programmatic and financial norms of the Scheme.
Accordingly, central share of ₹ 3,705.07 crore was approved and ₹ 2,982.26 crore (80.49%)
was released to the State of Rajasthan for the period 2025-26. An expenditure (including state
share) of ₹ 4,486.87 crore has been reported by the State on the PRABANDH portal of this
Department.(c): Under PM SHRI Scheme, a total of 749 schools including 100 Central Government schools
(64 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 35 Navodaya Vidyalayas and 1 NCERT) have been selected and are
operational as PM SHRI schools from the State of Rajasthan. Of these, 19 schools including 3
Central Government schools (2 Kendriya Vidyalayas and 1 Navodaya Vidyalaya) from Tonk
district and 13 schools including 3 Central Government school (2 Kendriya Vidyalayas and 1
Navodaya Vidyalaya) from Sawai Madhopur have been selected and are operational under PM
SHRI Scheme.
(d): As per the information uploaded/provided by the State on the PRABANDH portal (2024-25)
of the Department, 10311 children (5297 boys, 5012 girls and 2 transgender children) have been
identified as Out of School Children (OoSC). Out of these, 85 children (43 boys and 42 girls) and
281 children (158 boys and 123 girls) have been identified as OoSC by the State in the Tonk and
Sawai Madhopur district, respectively.
