SHRI LAVU SRI KRISHNA DEVARAYALU: SHRI KESINENI SIVANATH: Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a) whether the Union Government has approved converting the nominated ITIs and Polytechnics in Andhra Pradesh into Data Labs and if so, the details thereof; (b) the steps being taken by the Government to expedite the approval and operationalisation of these Data Labs in the State; (c) the number of startups from Andhra Pradesh that have received financial assistance under the IndiaAI Innovation and Startups pillar during the last five years, district and year-wise; and (d) the number of startups, researchers, academic institutions and State agencies in Andhra Pradesh that have accessed AI compute services through the IndiaAI Cloud Portal since its inception, district and year-wise? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (d): India's AI strategy is based on Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of democratizing technology. It aims to address India-centric challenges and create opportunities. IndiaAl Mission It is a strategic initiative to establish a robust and inclusive AI ecosystem aligned with India's development goals through the seven pillars. These include IndiaAl Compute, AlKosh, IndiaAl Foundation Models, IndiaAl FutureSkills, Startup Financing, Application Development and Safe & Trusted AI. IndiaAI FutureSkills • Government is developing AI talent and research pipeline by supporting 500 PhD scholars, 5,000 postgraduates and 8,000 undergraduates • 27 IndiaAl Data and AI Labs have been established in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities through NIELIT to conduct coursework in AI, data curation, annotation, cleaning and applied data science • 174 lTIs and Polytechnics across 27 States/UTs have been approved to set up additional IndiaAl Data and AI Labs.• IndiaAI has selected 09 ITIs in Andhra Pradesh for establishing IndiaAI Data & AI Labs and the first instalment has also been released to these 09 centres for initiating the setup (Details of these institutions are placed in Annexure-I). Centre of Excellence on IoT & AI at Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: Government of India along with NASSCOM and state governments has set up Centres of Excellence on Internet of Things at Bengaluru, Gurugram, Gandhi Nagar and Visakhapatnam. First Centre on IoT was established in Bengaluru in 2016 along with the Government of Karnataka and NASSCOM. One of the objectives of these centres was to enable India to emerge as an innovation hub in IoT. More than 60 startups have been enrolled, 16 societal projects have been undertaken, and 10 IPs filed. Google AI Hub in Visakhapatnam: Encouraged by the Government’s initiatives, the private sector is also increasingly investing in AI in India. Google has recently announced the establishment of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh. This investment of approximately 15 billion US dollars marks Google’s largest investment in India to date.
