GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF COOPERATION LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1517 TO BE ANSWERED ON 9th DECEMBER, 2025 Cooperative Groups and Grants 1517: Shri Brijmohan Agrawal Will the Minister of Cooperation (सहकारिता मंत्री) be pleased to state: (a) the categories of sector wise cooperatives defined by the Ministry along with the list of all active cooperative societies, sector and State-wise; (b) the number of cooperatives that have been funded by the department and affiliated cooperatives in the form of loans, grants, investments in the last three financial years; (c) the list of cooperatives with corresponding amounts sanctioned and disbursed under the Grant in aid to National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC); (d) the list of States and UTs into 'Cooperatively Developed', 'Under Developed' and 'Least Developed' groups; (e) The value of financial assistance provided to all the States under the CSISAC; (f) the details of initiatives and programmes that are being run by the Ministry for under developed and least developed groups; and (g) the measures to address regional variations, engagement in Chhattisgarh's tribal areas, through training and cultural adaptations? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF COOPERATION सहकारिता मंत्री (SHRI AMIT SHAH) (a) As per the National Cooperative Database (NCD), out of total of 8.4 lakh cooperatives societies across the country, 6.5 lakh are functional, having approximately 30 crore members across 30 Sectors. The State-wise and sector-wise numbers of functional cooperative societies, are attached as Annexure-1 & Annexure-2, respectively. (b) National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has assisted 40,863 cooperative societies in the last three financial years. The details of which are attached as Annexure-3. (c) Under the Grant in aid to National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the NCDC has sanctioned Rs. 7323.21 crore and disbursed Rs. 203.75 crore till 30.11.2025. The details are provided at Annexure-4.(d) & (e) As per the approved guidelines of CSISAC scheme, all the States/UTs had been categorized as Cooperatively Developed (11), Under Developed (13) and Least Developed (12) for the purpose of implementation of this scheme. (g) To increase the participation of Women, Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Scheduled Castes (SC), in Multi State Cooperative Societies registered all over the country, the Government of India vide the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (amendment) Act, 2023 and Rules framed thereunder has made provisions for reservation of two seats for Women and one seat for SC or ST in the Board of multi-State cooperative societies.
