Ms Iqra Choudhary: Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state: (a) the number of Government primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary schools that have been closed or merged across the country from the year 2014 up to June 30th, 2026, State-wise/UT-wise; (b) whether the enrolment rate of students in Government schools reported a continuous decline across the country during the said period; (c) if so, the outcome of any central study conducted in this regard; (d) the details of student enrolment rate in Government schools and data of schools closed or merged in Kairana Lok Sabha Constituency during the last five years, year-wise and block-wise; and (e) the total budget allocated and spent under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and PM-Shri Yojana to check the decline in enrolment rate, strengthen basic infrastructure and improve quality of education in government schools of Saharanpur and Shamli districts during the last three years? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION (SHRI JAYANT CHAUDHARY) (a): The total number of government schools, as reported by the State/UTs, on the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) from year 2014-15 to 2025-26, are at annexure-I. (b) and (c): As per UDISE+, Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) at Upper Primary (VI-VIII), Secondary (IX- X) and Higher Secondary (XI-XII) for the year 2016-17 is 88.1, 76.4 and 43.8 respectively and for the year 2025-26 is 89.6, 81.5 and 61.7 respectively. (d): As per UDISE+, number of government schools in Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh from the year 2021-22 to 2025-26 is given below: Total Government Schools District 2021-22 2022-23 2023-24 2024-25 2025-26 Shamli, Uttar Pradesh 621 621 622 623 623 (e): The Department of School Education & Literacy is implementing the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Samagra Shiksha in partnership with all the States and UTs. Financial assistance is provided to all States and UTs for various components for implementation of the interventions under Samagra Shiksha as per norms. Approved Central Releases and the Actual Central Share released under Samagra Shiksha for Uttar Pradesh for the year 2023-24 is 664429.01 lakh and 427645.13 lakh respectively, for the year 2024-25 is 697621.18 lakh and 626479.22 lakh respectively and for the year 2025-26 is 589243.27 lakh and 562215.15 lakh respectively.
