GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MINORITY AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.1673 ANSWERED ON 29.07.2026 DELAY IN CONSTITUTION OF STATE HAJ COMMITTEES 1673. DR MOHAMMAD JAWED: Will the Minister of MINORITY AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that State Haj Committees have not been constituted in several States for a considerable period and if so, the details of such States along with the period for which the committees have remained unconstituted, State-wise; (b) the reasons for the non-constitution of State Haj Committees in these States indicating whether the delay is attributable to the State Governments, the Central Government or any other authority; and (c) the steps taken by the Government to facilitate the constitution of State Haj Committees in the concerned States and the timeline by which these committees are expected to be constituted? ANSWER MINISTER OF MINORITY AFFAIRS SHRI KIREN RIJIJU (a) to (c): As per Section 17(1) of the Haj Committee Act, 2002, the State Haj Committee in State/UT is constituted by the respective State/UT Government. Hence, the status of the constitution of State Haj Committees, the reasons for any delay in their constitution, if any, is the responsibility of the respective State/UT Government. *****
