Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:
(a)the demand and supply of fertilizers during Rabi season across the various states of the
country State-wise and fertilizer-wise including in Maharashtra, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and
Madhya Pradesh;
(b)whether the farmers are facing difficulties during the current Rabi season due to shortage
and delay in supply of fertilizers, particularly DAP and Urea;
(c) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise including the said States;
(d)the quantity of fertilizers likely to be made available by the Government through domestic
production as well as imports to meet the demand in the country; and
(e)the corrective steps being taken by the Government to ensure adequate availability of
fertilizers in the country including the said States?

(a) to (c) The availability of fertilizers viz. Urea, DAP, MOP and NPKS across the States
remained adequate during the Rabi 2024-25 season. The information regarding demand and
supply of fertilizers across the States, including the States/UTs of Maharashtra, Dadra & Nagar
Haveli and Madhya Pradesh, during the Rabi 2024-25 season is placed at Annexure.
(d) & (e) Following steps are taken by the Government before every cropping season for
ensuring timely and adequate availability of fertilizers in the country:
i. Before the commencement of each cropping season, Department of Agriculture and
Farmers Welfare (DA&FW), in consultation with all the State Governments, assesses the state-
wise & month-wise requirement of fertilizers.
ii. On the basis of requirement projected by DA&FW, D/o Fertilizers allocates adequate
quantities of fertilizers to States by issuing monthly supply plan and continuously monitors the
availability.-2-
iii. The movement of all major subsidized fertilizers is monitored throughout the country by an
on-line web-based monitoring system called integrated Fertilizer Monitoring System (iFMS);
iv. Regular Weekly Video Conference is conducted jointly by DA&FW and D/o Fertilizers with
State Agriculture Officials and corrective actions are taken to dispatch fertilizers as indicated
by the State Governments.
v. The gap between demand (requirement) and production of fertilizers is met through imports.
The import for the season is also finalized well in advance to ensure timely availability.
Accordingly, the information regarding production and imports of fertilizers during the
Rabi 2024-25 season is given as per the table below:
