Parliament Question: Delays in solar and wind power projects

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 2869 ANSWERED ON 17.03.2026 DELAYS IN SOLAR AND WIND POWER PROJECTS 2869. SHRI RAVI CHANDRA VADDIRAJU Will the Minister of NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY be pleased to state: (a) whether Government has reviewed delays in solar and wind power projects due to land and grid connectivity issues; (b) if so, the number of projects affected; and (c) the steps taken to resolve these bottlenecks? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR NEW & RENEWABLE ENERGY AND POWER (SHRI SHRIPAD YESSO NAIK) (a) to (c) The Government is regularly reviewing the progress of implementation of the solar and wind power projects with all stakeholders for addressing their issues. Most of the solar and wind power projects are implemented by private developers and the land required for the projects are identified and acquired by them. Since, land is a state subject, the identification of land is generally done through the respective State/UT Governments. To streamline identification & allotment of land and for easing land rules like exempting non- agriculture land conversion etc., the Government has been taking up matters with the State/UT Governments. As per inputs from Central Transmission Utility of India Ltd (CTUIL), the progress of Inter State Transmission System projects is monitored on a quarterly basis in the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting along with Transmission Service Providers (TSPs) and project developers to co-ordinate between their timelines & to avoid mismatch between generation and transmission. In addition to JCC, follow up meetings are also being done by Ministry of Power, CTUIL, and Central Electricity Authority. Further, ROW/land issues encountered by the TSPs are also taken up with State/District administration for resolution. *****
