Parliament Question: Demand of Indian Products in Global Markets

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 4737 ANSWERED ON 21ST AUGUST, 2025 DEMAND OF INDIAN PRODUCTS IN GLOBAL MARKETS

Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has resulted in enhancing value addition of agricultural, horticultural and floricultural produce and increased the demand for Indian products in global markets and if so, the details thereof along with the foreign exchange earned during each of the last five years;

(b) the total number of food processing units and value addition projects sanctioned and financed by the Union Government under the said scheme as on 30 June, 2025, State- wise;

(c) whether the said scheme initiated by the Union Government has led to an increase in the food processing capacity of the country and if so, the details thereof, State-wise; and

(d) whether the food processing units and value addition projects under the said scheme have generated job opportunities in this sector and if so, the details thereof, State-wise? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI RAVNEET SINGH)

(a): The incentives under the PLISFPI are admissible where the entire chain of manufacturing processes, including primary processing of the food products applied for coverage under the scheme takes place in India. Total export of agricultural processed food products of the applicants approved under PLISFPI has increased with a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 13.23% as on 2024-25 with reference to 2019-20. The scheme does not cover floricultural production.

(b): 278 food processing units of 170 applicants have been approved under various categories of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) implemented by Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) across the country. A total of ₹ 1726.60 crore has been released as incentives till June 2025. State-wise details are at Annexure.

(c): The scheme has led to increase in food processing capacity of 35.00 lakh MT per annum in the Country. State-wise data is not maintained.

(d): The total number of about 3.39 lakhs, both Direct and Indirect employment, have been generated so far under the PLISFPI.
